Innventure Limited
When ex-colleague Chris Gerard, left the corporate world of Bass Brewers, he turned to John to help develop his new Innventure Pub Company. Chris led a great team of People with great ideas and Innovative Propositions and asked John to create bespoke great Places.
D’Arrys, Cambridge (now Stolen)
Acquired as a failing City Centre Pub co. establishment and now a Cambridge institution, our brief to create an old pub of modern culture with a heavy appeal for casual food and the Australian d’Arenberg wine range with an academic but broad appeal. Though the wine may have changed the culture has not and the institution continues to grow!
The Wellington, Old Welwyn
Innventure Ltd went on to acquire the most wonderful 16 century Coaching Inn, The Wellington in Old Welwyn High Street. Masquerading as a ‘branded’ Hungry Horse insensitive to both building and location, the Wellington was sensitively restored, and working with Chris’s great People and great Proposition, we restored this pub to modern and contrasting former glories, creating a great Place. Now a Welwyn ‘institution’, the Wellington tragically suffered a damaging fire which we were proud to have the opportunity to reinstate on behalf of both Innventure Limited and their landlords, Greene King.
Innventure Limited went on to develop the Innventure Limited estate, we worked with their great People to share a culture of innovation creating great Places in which to offer great and diverse Propositions including:-
The Rusty Gun
The Foresters
The Broadway, Letchworth
Many of these businesses are now mature and little changed since their initial development. They remain popular, growing venues without the need for major change for further substantial investment – some would say timeless.
